Nail Hill Australian Cattle Dogs

Real Cattle Dogs that are tough as nails....

Over 30 years ago we purchased our first Australian Cattle Dog.
This different looking puppy with odd coloring and zest to get into everything had us hooked.

Likely the most addicting personality trait this new puppy had was an almost unreal intelligence, seemingly understanding words and actions the first time he was exposed to them.

What we didn’t know was some of the health and personality problems that we would later discover.
No medical care would solve these issues only quality breeding would have, and this dog came from a backyard where knowledge on the parents and grandparents did not exist, nor was it even wanted.

Still with all the problems we wondered how many of these amazing dogs owners couldn’t handle and had turned them into their local shelters. This led us to visit shelters in an attempt to help keep these super smart, potential trouble makers from an undesirable end.

We spent time training and learning about the Australian Cattle Dog while we rescued as many as we could.
I think we became a little bit like diagnostic veterinarians since it seemed as if every mental and physical ailment came our way.
In the future we would discover this breed with proper breeding history is a remarkably healthy and robust breed not at all like we first experienced.

We found many in the breed who called us friends and we attended shows and events believing that one day we would move into this area of the purebred Australian Cattle Dog.

Years have now past with our dogs not only showing in conformation but winning at the highest levels even in other countries, training for working titles and other cool adventures have followed and our excitement for this breed has never been stronger.

Even though we do not rescue anymore, our hope is we can give back to the breed by raising and breeding well rounded Australian Cattle Dogs, selectively breeding only to improve upon what many great breeders have so far accomplished.
