Different types of judges

Interesting thing happened at the Atlanta dog show in August that I have to tell you about.

There are a lot of different types of conformation judges at any dog show, and by types I mean those
who come from a background of breeding (a certain breed or multiples, or even your breed) or a background of obedience ,
or agility or what ever other area they started in.
While I think breeder judges (of the breed you are showing to them) are generally a very good thing vs a different breed judge, I was alerted to another type
of judge that could be possible at least in Australian Cattle Dogs.
This judge had never bred Australian Cattle Dogs but used them to work her cattle for years, so spent many hours watching them "in action" and seeing
what they needed to get the job done on the ranch.
This judge also she had some that couldn't get the job done and commented what a hassle that could be as well.

So when Hoshi got the breed win that day under this judge and I looked back I am very proud of that win as it says much for her type and her condition etc.
So when you are at a conformation show…keep using your brain and you just never know what you might learn.
